Memon Medical Institute (MMI) Hospital is a completely donor-funded project of the Memon Health and Education Committee (MHEF). MMI is a public welfare project of selfless and compassionate individualsibodies who have contributed generously towards its creation both in terms of time and money. It is the vision of the community for the betterment of the nation. It is one of the largest projects undertaken by the Memon community to provide accessible and affordable quality healthcare and education to all with dignity, respect and empathy. The project also included a 332 bed state of the art medical facility. Earlier, for this cause, AHCLs Board of Directors has approved a generous allocation of Rs. 33 million on behalf of the Group towards the construction and completion of this institution. AHCL is also the corporate member of MMI and Mr. Kashif A. Habib, Director, has been designated as one of its trustees. Furthermore, Mr. Arif Habib is Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Memon Health & Education Foundation, a parent body of Memon Medical Institute.

FFCL has established a Trust to construct and run a welfare hospital at Sadiqabad that will cost around As. 300 million. This hospital will serve as a centre of quality treatment with specialized units for hepatitis treatment, trauma and emergencies.

PFL, on the other hand, has signed an agreement with the Governing Body of Worker Welfare Fund, Ministry of Labour and Manpower for the construction of Mukhtar A. Sheikh Memorial Hospital, a kidney and psychiatric treatment facility and other allied services at Multan. Under the agreement, Pakarab Workers Welfare Board is being established as a Public-Private partnership between Worker Welfare Fund (WWF) and PFL for the efficient management and administration of the money to be allocated for the project. For the establishment of the Hospital, 50% will be contributed by the WWF and the remaining 50% will be contributed by PFL. The total project cost of Rs.2 billion does not include the cost of land, which will be provided by PFL. So far, As. 98 million has been contributed by PFL towards the project. Once completed, it will be a self-sustaining hospital which will provide free kidney and psychiatric treatment to all workers registered with the EOBI or ESSI. This is the first Worker Welfare Board of its kind and only the fifth after the four provincial worker welfare funds.

Both PFL and FFCL contributed Rs.500,000 each to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SlUT). SIUT is a public health sector organization providing comprehensive and modern facilities free of cost to patients from predominantly rural and urban strata with virtually no access to medical facilities.

On May 15, 2011, a medical centre along with a vaccination centre started functioning at FFCL plant site to facilitate the neighbouring community and Company staff. This centre provides hepatitis awareness, screening/diagnostic facility for Hepatitis B & C and vaccination for Hepatitis B. To date, more than 50 people have been vaccinated through acquired vaccines on a temporary basis. To ensure regular operations, the Company will invest Rs. 100,000 as a one-off non-operational expense and will provide Rs. 322,000 per month as operational expenses. The treatment for the neighbouring community would be free throughout the year. Subsequently, the Company plans to undertake Fatima Fertilizer Welfare Hospital (FFWH), a modern welfare hospital in the vicinity of the plant site, to cater to the needs of the underprivileged of the area.

During the year, JCL has contributed Rs.1.2 million towards Memon Medical Institute and Rs.0.05 million was donated to Chipa Welfare.
